April 2016 - White Rock

Month of April

We took the ferry over to see Kristi and Jason at their rental house in the Departure Bay area of Nanaimo.

Garrett and Kat came for a visit and we took the dogs for a romp on the White Rock beach.

I've spent a lot of time running around and looking after Dad and his house. Setting up for 24/7 care and payroll for said caregiver. What a pain. Yelling fits with Dad every day as he does not what to spend the money. Betty’s finally back out of hospital as of April 7th …. Now has congestive heart failure, calcified heart valve and atrial fibrillation. She does not qualify for surgery as she still has cancer. Can't wait to get on with our trip to the Kootenays with all this going on!

Ray went to the Physiatrist on the 7th. Not good news there either. He has a 50 % loss of nerve function in the right leg and 30% loss of function in the left leg. He hoped there may be some recent medical developments to improve is pain level.  Nope. So on we go.

We've been visiting Ray's Mom many times.  The pics below is from our visit to Burnaby Lake.

Well the month went by, mostly caring for Dad. New caregiver starts April 23, Larny. She turned out to be a godsend. Betty approved her as well. As it turned out, Betty went back into the hospital after being sent home for a few days and could not breathe. She never came back home again after this. Larny started on the 23rd as arranged and does a fabulous job looking after Dad.

All our plans have been suspended at this point.
