A beautiful sunrise, picture from yesterday. Good morning Quartzsite.

Picture from yesterday.
New Year's Eve morning started out cloudy but there is hope that the sun will come out later this afternoon. A Potluck Dinner is planned around the communal campfire starting at 4:30 pm. Hopefully not too cold tonight. We will have "midnight" by 9pm, New York Time. lol

Lots of sounds of coyotes overnight. Taking Freya out for her morning pee, her nose is in the air checking it all out.

After I had made my soup for the potluck, Ray and I took a run into town to get some pegs and straps to hold down our First Up tent. With all the wind here we would like to make a wind break so when it is sunny we can still sit outside... got the idea from a rig ahead of us. lol Our regular pegs and string would not stand up to the 30mph winds here in the desert. It was quite busy at K & B tools. Hard to get a parking spot. A lot of other people must have decided to get out in the sunshine too.

All packed up with the food etc and met up with everyone at the campfire at 4:30. What a great group of people Steve and Dianne have collected.

My contribution is Ham and Split Pea Soup as the leftover ham called to me. It turned out great and I also made some crescent rolls to go with. Everyone contributed a fabulous dish including Instant Pot cheesecake.

Some excitement for the night was a very small mouse decided to come out and visit. Freya was on the "hunt" and almost caught it in her mouth a couple of times. Yuck! I put her in the car after that. :) It had become dark so hard to see her anyways and I always worry at night about the coyotes.

Taking my pulse? Ha ha

Lisa, Marilyn, Cec and Jim. MIA Colin, the empty chair!

By 7pm people started sneaking away as it was quite cold out so at 9 pm, there were only 7 of us left to say Happy New Year! lol A great day. Back to the coach for a last nightcap and in bed by 10. (We are all so exciting here in the desert. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  1. Happy New Year! We only made it until 9:30 :( Looks like we are missing way too much fun in the desert right now. On the up side we don't need a coat. Hope you two have a safe and happy year, not sure if we are coming to the Island this year but it is entirely possible.
