Second week of June 8 - 14

Tuesday, June 8th, both of us were pretty bushed after our week away so pretty quiet around here. The rest of the week the weather was not the best with quite a bit of wind and showers. I did a run into Duncan for groceries, Ray finished up my irrigation on the sundeck putting all the tubing under the deck tiles so it's all nice and tidy.

Checked on our big boat, the new bimini cover has been installed and looks awesome, but we are still waiting for the proper "easy steer" to be installed. Apparently it will require some millwork as you cannot get the correct bracket for our motor anymore. Should have the boat back early next week.

Wednesday we had our window cleaner here doing all our outside windows and the high inside windows that have not been done the 3 years we have been here so have no idea when, if ever, they were cleaned. Ryland did say they were pretty dirty. lol The guy is a monkey. :)

Thursday, Ray mounted the house number sign he has been working on for some time.

Friday morning before the wind really came up, Ray finally made it out onto the lake to fish. Yeah! He finally caught a small trout with the dinghy and I fed it to him for lunch lol

Off he goes.

Received some pictures of our granddaughter, Stella, in Squamish. She sure is growing.

Quite the climber.

She has 6 teeth.

Saturday it was an unexpected nice day so we had a campfire in the back yard, watching the activity on the lake. Made a lovely stuffed sausage stuffed acorn squash dish for dinner with my Italian Sausage I had previously made. Delicious.

Freya is still really struggling with her "back end". Her age is definitely catching up with her. (11 years) After staying at Kristi's for 5 days she has not recovered and her left leg is not working very well. (Kristi's house has lots of stairs) She is walking on her left rear foot bent over instead of flat on a surface. After more pain medicine and some quiet days she is doing better but still cannot walk very far. I purchased a lift harness to help her with stairs when we go back to Kristi's, so we shall see. Here at the lake we take her down the sidewalk to the back yard and over twice a day for a very short walk at the park where she prefers to "do her business". Heartbreaking to watch her decline, but she is happy and now having very little pain. She still wants to play with her stick. Our trips away from the house now will have to be modified to accommodate her.

Ray and I have a trip in the motorhome planned in a week so we will need to get her in and out of the motorhome. The ramp we have for the car will probably be used as well.

Pictures of Amelia.

Sunday the weather was pretty good with sunny breaks until 3pm when the rain began again. Around 11am we took a drive down Point Ideal to check out the waterfront lot that has just come up for sale. The price online is $585,000 ... Wow. It is a narrow lot, (long and skinny) similar to ours and very limited space on the water for a dock with the marina's wharves right out front. Nice flat building lot though and high enough that I don't think you would have to worry about flooding.

Next up we drove on the other side of the lake to check out the new development. They have actually paved the road up there now and 2 lots have foundations poured and a third one they are building the forms. Progress finally.

Artist Rendition

Lot 1 and 2 have foundations.

Lot 1 and 2 Really small houses.

We had been concerned with all the water that comes down that hillside but they seem to have directed it into "dry rivers".

The view towards our side of the lake.

Our house across the lake.

They really did a good job of "screening" so all the trees are not taken down.

Across the road is the marina they have put in for the houses on the other side of the road. They also already have a kayak rental place and washrooms.

You can see our house with our neighbours across the lake.

I decided to make us a "pub lunch" with a chuck burger, with triple O sauce, caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms. Ray's favourite. On a pretzel bun to hold up to all the toppings. lol Also fried up some shoestring fries. Delicious.

He caught me with my mouth full of beer. lol

After lunch it was quite warm and muggy so we sat outside on the deck for an hour before the rain rolled in. Another great day at the lake.

Monday started out a much better day weather wise. Ray made us a fire to have our coffee. We had the wood pile moved to get ready for the guys to cut down our maple tree next week so had some scraps to get rid of. This tree has grown substantially the last three years and is taller than the house. It makes way too much shade in our small little yard so we are going to get it cut down before it gets any bigger.

After doing some chores, including making homemade Italian Sausage Patties, Ray talked me into a bike ride to Jakes at the Lake for lunch and a beer. lol First time on my bike in a year outside. A nice flat ride to shake the cobwebs off the bike. :)

The rest of the afternoon, Ray did some stuff on his computer and I started putting things into the Motorhome for our trip next week to Pedder Bay. The water system was flushed several times with Ray's help. Tomorrow we are up to Nanaimo to help out with Amelia. Kristi is working on Wednesday and Jason has a Zoom meeting, teaching kids how to fly tie for a few hours in the morning so I will be on Amelia duty. :)

Jason installed the baby gate. Happy baby.

That was our week. :)

    1. It is painful to watch, but she seems happy for the most part and is getting around better. I got her a lifting belt to help her going up and down stairs and up her ramp into the car.(She is 92 lbs!) Had an overnight at Kristi's and she managed much better with the help.
