Last week of January 2022 Jan 26 - 31

Wednesday the sun finally came out, fighting through the fog. How lovely to see it again even though it was pretty chilly outside. I invited Darryl and Pat over for coffee, so whipped up some oatmeal muffins.

Ray added more track lighting to the bar upstairs to help lighten up the house at night. I puttered in the kitchen. During the install, I prepped our dinner, Smoked pork ribs on the Traeger, skillet cornbread and coleslaw. Dinner served at 6:30. Yumm.

Thursday, a gorgeous sunny morning with a little fog drifting over the top of the lake. Beautiful. Chilly though at -2C. We took a drive around some neighbourhoods we've not seen in Lake Cowichan just to get out and enjoy the sunshine.

Friday another chilly day, although the sun was out we stayed inside. I did a little grocery shopping, Ray had his walk and started on a wood project in his shop. The big ticket for me was laundry lol The new "rubber feet" on the washing machine is doing the trick and the washer is no longer wandering around the room on it's own. lol

My new SunGuard window covers for the motorhome arrived today. Our RV Tech, Mike will be installing the hardware (snaps) sometime soon. Ray could do it but it's too much ladder work for him which kills his back so I would rather have someone else do it that knows what thy're doing.

The most exciting thing these days is pulling out a hunk of meat out of the freezer and contemplating what to do with it. lol I have a well-stocked freezer ... time to use it up as we are heading south next fall and the freezer needs to be emptied. I probably have a years worth of meat in there. :) With all of the predictions of shortages I kind of went a little overboard, buying meat on sale, as cooking is my stress reliever. Makes Ray happy though. :)

Our neighbour, Donna, came over and dropped off some fresh baked scones. Yumm. Ray is spoiled. The rain started around noon and the rest of the day we just hunkered down and had a movie day.

Sunday poured all day.

Monday the rain finally quit and the sun came out. Ray took me out to lunch at Jake's at the Lake. Seniors day lol 25% off food. Nice to just get out of the house. Our view from our table.

Across the road from the Country Grocer, is a building supposed to be rebuilt for a restaurant. It used to be a gas station we were told. Well with Covid etc. the person renovating it just walked away. Now his old RV is just been left and collapsed in half. Hopefully the town will deal with this eyesore before summer.

Life these days is not very exciting. lol But we are warm, well-fed and able to see our family and are all healthy. Things to be thankful for.
