Queen Valley RV Resort and flying home to Vancouver Island - Dec 2 - 5th

Friday morning Ray rushed outside to get the morning sunrise, gorgeous.

Goodbye Lost Dutchman SP, see you next year.

By 9:00 am we'd packed up and on our way to Mesa Market with the motorhome. We planned to walk the market before we relocate to Queen Valley RV Resort. We booked a site for a monthm to leave the coach in good hands with our friends Malc and Kathy and fly to Vancouver for Christmas on Monday.

This little guy was at the water tap as Ray unhooked our services.

More water please. lol

Loved this license plate at the market.

After spending an hour or so it was time to drive to Queen Valley, about 40 minutes away. After setting up we visited outside with Malc and Kathy. Malc has a cold and Kathy sounds like she is getting one, so masks on for viewing their new park model before settling outside more than 6 feet away. :)

Saturday, we woke to clouds and by 10 am it was raining. Weird to hear rain on the MH roof. Quiet day just getting travel documents in order for our flight out on Monday. With our friends sick, we're staying home by ourselves as there is no sitting outside today.  The next 2 days will be more of the same as we get more and more excited about seeing our kids and grandaughter Amelia for Christmas. Wheels up from Phoenix Airport, Monday at 2:05 pm.

Amelia 23 months old. Such a happy little girl.

Kristi and Jason took Amelia to Squamish a week ago, to visit her cousin. Both girls had so much fun together.

Amelia and Stella

Monday morning, fly home day, YEAH! Finally not raining when we woke up. It's been a really wet couple of days with flooding in the Casa Grande area.

Glad we didn't go to Casa Grande this year. Friends of ours are stuck for a couple of days at the RV Park until the water goes down, at least their site is dry.

Monday we were out the door at 9am, headed to the Phoenix Airport. Yeah we go home today. It was suggested on our Itinerary to get to the airport 3 hours in advance of our flight to get through security etc. With having to park the car and get the shuttle we left even earlier.

We decided to eat some breakfast as we have 2 1/2 hours to wait before boarding our flight. Unfortunately it ended up being 25 minutes late due to de-icing in Vancouver and did not take off until 2:35 pm

I'm very surprised to see how much room our seats have. (I booked front seats in the "preferred section" with West Jet so Ray would have leg room and better seats for his back. It's totally the right decision. Look how much room we have. The preferred seating only has 2 seats per side and only 3 rows, so we get well taken care of.

To my surprise we were also handed menus for our lunch/dinner. I even drank 3 glasses of wine during the flight. Nice!

It's a great 3 hour flight. Sure is a lot of snow on the mountains on the way. This is us leaving Phoenix.

When we arrived in Vancouver there was another 10 minute delay before they could "dock" the plane. Apparently there is also a shortage of grounds crew! We hustled out of the plane and walked really fast to the "Connections" area with our carry-on luggage to clear Customs and then walked really fast to the next gate for our flight to Victoria. Fortunately Customs was a breeze and only took 5 minutes.

Of course the gate we arrived at is as far as you could get at one end of the airport and our flight to Victoria is at the farthest end gate at the other end. With the delays, our flight is boarding when we arrived at the gate. Whew!!! We were with the last 6 people on the plane before it lifted off 15 minutes later. If we brought checked luggage we would have been out of luck.

Picked up the rental car at the Hertz Counter and of course we got an employee in training so it took another 20 minutes or so before we could start our 90 minute drive home. At 8:15 pm we arrived in our driveway that had been plowed and shoveled by our neighbours. Nice.

Looking forward to seeing the kids and Amelia on Friday.
