Happy Birthday Ray - Prescott, AZ - November 15 - 20

November 15th, Happy Birthday Ray!!!

We were on the road to Prescott for 9:30 am, by the time we attached the car and got rid of the garbage. Although cloudy it's still a beautiful drive. We headed west on the I-40 past Flagstaff and Williams and then 89 South to Prescott. This picture is the start of the desent down the 89 from Ash Fork. The hightest elevation near Flagstaff is 7331 feet and we dropped down to 5400  feet. Definitely warmer down here.

Point of Rocks RV Park in Prescott have strict rules not to come before 1 pm. As we were an hour early, we found a place to unhook the car from the MH and found a Sushi Place for Ray's Birthday Lunch. It was delicous.

After lunch and it's after 1 pm, so we picked up the coach and made our way to our campsite. It sure is nice here, but unfortunately we are in some trees so no TV. We will see if we can move tomorrow.

After a minimal setup we decided to take one of the trails to view Watson Lake. Absolutely gorgeous.

We stood there for a bit and then I walked back on the trail we came on and Ray decided to do some "boulder hopping" to bet better views. He missed the trail a couple of times and had to back track, he said. About 20 minutes later he made it back with only a scraped toe lol I saw him up there from down in the campsite. He did not see me.

Thursday is a stay at home day. Cloudy and windy outside. It sounded like rain, but it's just the leaves from the trees.

Because of the tree we are not getting any satelitte signal, so at 8am we went to the office to see if we could move. They seem to be empty right now but with Thanksgiving they are filling up this weekend. We already have to move sites for our last 2 days here. After checking the compass we decided that if we drive straight into the site instead of backing in it might work ... sucess. So this little project took 2 hours before we were all set up again.

Ray's a bit sore from his scramble over the rocks yesterday afternoon. For me I did 3 loads of laundry, baked bread, made waffles for the Birthday Boy. We'd planned to have a big smoked meat feast for dinner, but when Ray looked closer at the places he had ear marked, they did not advertise being able to order just meat for take out. So, lamb shanks out of the freezer and I did them up in the Instant Pot. Delicious with my fresh bread.

Friday morning as soon as it started to get light out, Ray ventured out on the trails to get some shots of the lake. He ended up having quite the hike.

The dam. The water is quite low looking at the marks on the rocks.

He was pretty tired when he came home.

After breakfast and a bit of a rest, we headed out to explore other areas for taking sunset shots around Willow Creek Reservoir.

We stopped at Fry's on the way home for a few things. Time for lunch. We headed back out to Nana's Cafe, an old school diner. Ray orderedd a tasty burger and I the French Beef Dip. With full tummies, it's time to explore Watson Lake park a bit.

We found the perfect place to take pictures with just a short walk from the parking lot. Poor Ray, he didn't need to go on his 2 mile hike this morning.

Looking toward the estuary.

Back home for 2 pm and a cold beverage with the neighbours behind us. This is a picture of our campsite out the drivers window ... a much better view. Love those rocks.

We did get someone directly in front of us as it's a busy weekend for them, but we have a bunch of trees screening us.

Ray headed out just before sunset for the next shots to the spot just down from the parking lot at Watson Lake. It costs $3 to park for the day so we were able to use this at Willow Creek Reservoir and here twice today.

Saturday the rain began shortly after 4am . Boy did it pour. It will be a wet morning, but supposed to clear up this afternoon. Certainly lots of puddles outside. Ray is pretty sore today with all of his walking/hiking yesterday, so we shall see what we get up to today.

We decided to check out Trader Joe's to see what interesting things they have instead of a regular grocery store. This turned out to be a "tiny" store. Only got a couple of things. Next up lunch at Red Robin's which is just down the street.  Ray managed to get a picture from their parking lot overlooking the valley.

After dropping off our few groceries, we headed back out of town to check out the Granite Garden Creek area. Not as pretty as Ray expected, so we only did about a 15 minute walk.

Most of the other roads to dells we viewed on Googlearound are on private property, including a Seniors Living Centre, so no access.

The rest of the afternoon we spent at home. I cooked us up a corned beef in the Instant Pot ... delicious.

Sunday's moving day. We waited until our next spot across the road is vacant before moving over for the next 2 nights. They did not leave until 11 am. Once they left we quickly moved the MH over and then headed out to the Historic Downtown and Whiskey Row, our destination today.

It's a blustery day with the wind, but we dressed appropriately and were not cold. In fact I took a layer off.

Yavapai County Courthouse

Whiskey Row

Old Town Area

They had little malls within the old buildings. A lot of galleries with all sorts of work for sale.

These glass bowls are loomed and look like placemats and then fused. Pretty cool. You can buy one for $4,500.

Hotel St. Michael Shops

Old ice cream shop

Bashford Court

Ray found these boxers really funny.

This last piece made out of motorcycle and sundry parts is yours for $86,000

We spent 2 hours wandering around the old stores and then ate lunch at the oldest saloon, The Palace. Beautiful old place.

The Palace Restaurant and Saloon is both the oldest business and oldest bar operating in the state of ArizonaUnited States. Located on historic Whiskey Row in Prescott, the saloon was opened in 1877, and rebuilt in 1901 after a disastrous fire swept the district in 1900. It is considered one of the most historic bars in the state. Wickipedia

When the fire ripped through in 1900, this bar is the only thing they managed to save as they dragged it out the door across the street and watched the rest of the building burn down.

Beautiful old tin ceilings.

Ray so quick taking pictures I didn't even have time to take my coat and hat off. lol

Felt like I was being watched the whole time we were at our table. lol

Back home at 2 to set up for the next couple of days. Ray's back is pretty sore so he spent the rest of the afternoon in bed watching football and maybe fell asleep lol

Monday, our last day here before moving on. Still breezy outside. At 10 am we headed up to Costco to check out their fuel station and see if they have diesel. They do, so on the way out of town tomorrow morning we will fuel up there and then be on our way to Lost Dutchman.

Today I did the last of our laundry as I won't be able to do it for 10 days until we move to Good Life RV park Dec 1st. We have been seeing "deep fried artichokes" on the menus for the last while so, I tried it myself for lunch. Delicious.

At 3, Ray took off to the Watson Lake Parking Lot again for "golden glow" pictures. Beautiful.

He came back home for an hour before heading downtown for a couple night shots of Whiskey Row. The biggest reason was to pick up some smoked meat, Brisket in particular, for dinner. Delicious.

Ray and I enjoyed the Prescott Area. Definitely a worthwhile visit.

Inverter Update:

After speaking with Tiffin on Friday, they gave me a supplier's number to get the rest of the parts for our Xantrex system. I called them today. The remote is backordered, but should be available in December not January as we were told from La Mesa, and was half the price compared to La Mesa!

Anyways, they will call me when they have the remote part. They have the other 2 parts required that they will pull from their inventory and wait for the remote to come in. After that they will call me for shipping information. We will have it shipped to either Mesa where the coach will be from December 1st or Palm Springs where we will be January 23rd.  With that information I made the appointment with Blue Compass RV in Desert Hotsprings, a short 10 minute drive from where we will be end of January. I finally feel so much better with a plan to get this completely fixed :)

    1. There were only a few people kayaking at this time of year. I imagine very busy in the summer. The RV park had truck loads of kayaks stored.
