Dianne and Steve come to visit and spring gardening - April 22 - 30th

Excited! Dianne and Steve are coming to visit after not seeing them in person since last August.

For today's visit, I put a turkey on the Traeger. The cranberry sauce, gravy and dressing, I made yesterday.

We managed to eat lunch for the first time on the deck with our new bistro chairs.

Steve and Dianne arrived about 3 pm and we sat outside in the front of the house. It's quite windy in the back and the sun hasn't come around to the deck yet.

The mess behind Dianne is Ray's working area for staining my new planters. :)

At 4 pm we came in and sat on the deck. My turkey is finished on the Traeger and now resting. I just needed to get the sides together that were baking in the oven.

And, of course, after dinner we sat outside on the deck with the heaters, Dianne's favourite place.

Wednesday morning, after Eggs Benedict, Ray and Steve took off in the boat to go fishing for a couple  hours. We wanted to make sure everything works after being in our garage for a year and a half without use. The boat worked fine, the fishing gear not so much for catching fish lol.

Off they go. No bites but they had fun.

Once they were back, Steve and Dianne took us out for lunch at Jake's, our local pub. Thanks guys!

Back home, we sat in the sun on the back lawn this time. We've had a few of these pictures over the years lol. CHEERS!

Dinner tonight is leftovers. Everyone helped themselves. We finished off the evening on the back deck. Everyone's tired with all the fresh air, so bedtime was 9pm. :)

Thursday morning after a big breakfast of bacon and scrambled eggs, the Colibabas departed for Courtenay. We got busy with our gardening projects. Ray continued staining my vertical garden boxes and I started planting.

A great couple of days with our "besties".

The following weekend, Kristi asked us to come up and take Amelia out and about on Saturday so she could get some work done in her garden. Jason was away for 4 days fishing with his friend Adrian.

We arrived at 9 am. First up, a family walk so Amelia can show us how she rides her new bike.

Shortly after we left Kristi with Olaf. Off to the stores. After shopping at Costco, Home Depot and Michaels Craft store we met up with Kristi at the Driftwood for their Chinese Food Buffet at 11:30, Amelia's favourite.

This "old beauty" was in the parking lot. Even sported the surf board!

We all went back to Kristi's and tried to help keep Amelia amused, but she was having none of it. She wanted to be with her mommy. After an hour or so we gave up and left at 2 pm to come home. At least Kristi did have some time to dig in her garden.

Ray's been busy with puzzles after spending time in his shop making planters for Kristi and I.  This is his latest, a beautiful garden. This reminds me of Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens that we visited in February.

Vallarta Botanical Gardens

Our gardens and planters are all planted now. Just need a bunch of warmer temps for them to really take off. All my big bunches of perennials, shasta daisy's, bee balm, cone flowers have all been split into several bunches, so the garden should a beautiful colour display in a month.

These pictures are not too interesting ..... but I want them in the blog for comparison next year. :)

Ray's busy getting my micro irrigation going before his eye surgery May 1st. Thanks a bunch.

Hard to believe that April is over! Onto May and summer!

    1. Kristi wants Amelia to know where her food comes from .... not just store shelves so she can be a responsible adult. Great idea.
