Antelope Island, Salt Lake City October 12th and 13th 2015

 October 13th - Antelope Island

Monday, we were on the road by 8am arrived at our destination, Antelope Island, Salt Lake City by 9:30 am. Good thing as most of the sites were reserved and this oneias only available for the 2 days we'd planned on being here. The site is right on the sand in front of the lake. Fantastic. Freya is thoroughly enjoying running in the soft sand.

Above and below are views right from the site.

The sites are situated on Bridger Bay. The next couple shots are from the Lakeside trail leading from the campsite.

The trail leads to Lady Finger Point.

Although the temps say about 65 degrees it was quite warm in the sun, enough to put on shorts.

After setting up and having some lunch we were off to tour the island. We saw herds (yes plural) of Bison. They're spectacular. Apparently there is a round-up October 23 to 25 where they check the herds and cull some to keep the numbers at around 400.

Two bulls off on their lonesome

Next we drove further down the road to the old Fielding Garr Ranch Heritage Site. The oldest Anglo-built house on its original foundation, circa 1848.

Along the way we came upon some Pronghorn Antelope (the islands name sake). Sweet! They sure are multi-coloured.

The next stop is Buffalo Point on the other side of the island. You practically get a 360 degree view. The first picture is the other side of the island and the second one is the Bridger Bay Campground shown on the far left.

Back to the campsite for Happy Hour and enjoy the lovely weather, not missing the rain in Vancouver !
