Phoenix Zoolights

Thursday, December 14th

The sunshine is finally back but still breezy. There seems to be a police mission going on at the park today.  It started before 9 am and still going on at 3 pm. There were at least 3 Sheriff Vehicles, one with a search dog and a sheriff's helicopter flying very close to the mountain looking in all of the canyons. Hope whoever is lost is found safe and sound.

Steve and Dianne headed out this morning to take care of some chores, Ray stayed home and I went to get a haircut. I sure was chilly this morning with the wind but by 9:30 it had warmed right up and by 1:30 it was shorts and tank top for me.

Tonight we are going to take Steve and Dianne to the Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo after having dinner at a Brew Pub fairly close to the event. Ray and I had such a good time there last year we are looking forward to seeing it again and sharing it with Steve and Dianne.

We were all loaded up in the car by 3:50 (we were anxious to get going already) and with my navigator, Ray's instructions, off we went.  As we were going against rush hour traffic it was busy, but moving. Our first stop at 5 pm was McFate Brewery for an early dinner. Ray and I wanted to get to the ZooLights just after dark before it get's really busy.  This way the boys would have lots of room without people in the way to take their pictures.

Ray and I visited the McFate Brewery last year before visiting the ZooLights so we knew beforehand that the beer and food is great.

Yes I had a hair cut yesterday! lol

Steve and Ray ordered an Irish Red, me a Blonde Ale and Dianne a Stout.  Ray ordered wings and the rest of us each a pizza.  We should have ordered two pizzas for the four of us as there was lots left over.  So after a lovely dinner it was off we went.   The parking lot looked busier than last year, but it turned out the crowds weren't as bad this time.  The lights are just as fantastic as last year though.

Here's a random selection of pictures below of those beautiful lights.  Here's a "Where's Waldo" moment, the four of us are posing at the base of a tree in one of the pics.

Another wonderful outing with Steve and Dianne.

    1. They start really early ... probably September stringing the lights. The pictures with the water, the lights are all synchronized to music, an awesome light display. I think it is the largest commercial light display in the USA.
