After so many days touring and coming home in the late afternoon, it's time to clean my house, bathrooms, bedding etc. Love, love having insuite laundry.
Ray's back needed a bit of a break as well. Since we're home anyways, I made a batch of bread as well as Beef Bolognese pasta for lunch and dinner. Very hot outside, our thermometer said 90F. Nice to stay inside with the A/C
Ray headed out later this afternoon just to stretch out and decided to take a few more pics in theTelingua Ghost Town. lol
Telingua Creek still has some water in it. |
It felt nice to get all the work done so we are ready to be back on the road tomorrow. We stopped over at Van Horn Texas before heading to Alamagordo, breaking in half the 6 hour run from Terlingua. For our last night in Terlingua, the afternoon clouds broke and created a gorgeous sunset. Last hot day for awhile.
We left the Paisano RV Park in Terlingua at 9am and backtracked the 80 miles to Alpine Texas to meet up with Hwy 90 and carry on Northwest to Van Horn Texas. The first 20 miles, Ray drove at 50mph due to all the road humps. We definitely found the humps on our way to Terlingua. It threw things out of the cupboards. Ten miles outside of Alpine there's a border checkpoint with a huge lineup on the way to Terlingua last weekend. When we passed this area today, there's no one there, so maybe closed due to the Remembrance Day holiday.
Excuse today's pictures with my phone, our windshield had plenty of bug splatter!
Taking the big hill down into Alpine.
We fuelled up on the other side of town on the way out. $5.20 for diesel.
Not too exciting of a drive. After we came out of the hills, it's very flat grasslands all the way to Van Horn where we meet up with the I-10. I booked us in at the Van Horn RV Park for $40 cash. It looks to be an old KOA. Supposed to be 28F tomorrow morning so I'm happy to be plugged in. Definitely much colder here. Yesterday it's 90C at 1:30 pm, today at Van Horn we're at 57F. Back into Jeans and sweaters.

Definitely an old KOA |
Good Night from Van Horn, Texas.
That old ghost town certainly is interesting. Love that old car!
