Monday, after all our company left, we started on putting stuff away for the winter. I also had lots of laundry to finish. lol I emptied the hot tub and cleaned as the water drained. Still have to use the shop vac to get the water out of all the pipes so they won't freeze over the winter.
Ray took me out for dinner at Jake's at the Lake as I really didn't want to cook anything after 4 days of cooking. While we were there, a huge thunder and lightning show happened. One boom sounded right over top of us. This lightning did ignite a fire by Meades Creek, but was put out by this morning by BC Fire Service according to all the facebook posts. Here are some pictures I pulled from Facebook.
Ray took a couple of pictures of the downpours from our deck. It was weird seeing rain after being dry for so long. Certainly is needed.
Tuesday, I went into Duncan to get some items not available here in Lake Cowichan in preparation for us leaving in 2 weeks. Ray stayed home and took apart all my micro-irrigation in preparation for the planters to be emptied. After putting stuff in the MH we relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. A breezy gray day.
Wednesday my gardener came to take my planters off the deck, clean them out and put them down under the sundeck for the winter. For the extra $45 for their time, it's well worth it. Glad it's dry out so they didn't track mud and dirt on my clean floor. :)
Thursday, it rained overnight and we woke up to it as well. Definitely needed but it's not raining hard enough to soak the forests yet. By 10 am the sun came out so Ray started working on loading some things into the MH. I kept busy with my lists and the last of my reservations.
How time flies. Just looking back on memories of today on Facebook through the past 9 years. Last year on August 31st Ray and I were on the Rocky Mountaineer out of Vancouver, 2 years ago, we hosted Steve and Dianne for the weekend starting off with Smoked Turkey, 4 years ago today we were on our Alaskan Cruise with both kids and their spouses. 7 years ago we were at Peter Hope Lake hosting a happy hour with some people we hmet before leaving for Peace Arch RV in Surrey, to see my Dad. 9 years ago, both Kristi and Garrett came up to Peter Hope Lake for the weekend to fish. Great memories. We all look a little older lol
That was quite the thunderstorm! Much more rain is needed though. Lots to do before you leave in a couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteSummer is gone already? It seems too early to be putting stuff away and getting ready to leave!
