Puerto Vallarta - Tour of the Malecon and beach day. Feb 11-12
Tuesday we decided to go downtown and walk the Malecon as we only viewed the "sign" for about 10 minutes on our bus tour. The Malecon is 12 blocks long and joins up with Zona Romantica.
I called up an Uber and we were on our way. Our driver is Carlos Alberto who speaks great English. After talking with him, on our 45 minute drive into town, he is willing to take us to San Sebastian in the mountains for the day for a very reasonable price. We will go Thursday for that adventure.
He dropped us off towards the south end of the Malecon He told us to call him 30 minutes before we wanted to go back to our hotel and he would come or he would someone else to get us.
First stop is to get a coffee so we can use a bathroom lol
We followed the end of the Malecon up over the Rivera del Rio into Zona Romantica, and area with lots of shops and restaurants. This area also has lots of nightlife compared to our area in Nuevo Vallarta and is comprised mostly of private residences who rent out their spaces.
Looking down towards the Parque Nacional Marino Los Arcos de Mismaloya and Mismaloya area.
"Did my picture turn out?" lol
Apparently there are crocodiles in this river. We didn't see any.
Further down into Zona Romantica they have this beautiful park with benches with tile murals. Lazaro Cardenas Park
Even a Canadian Flag
The beach in Zona Romantica is sand brought in, as it's naturally rocky here.
After half an hour, we turned around and went back to the Malecon. Back across the river we noticed all these birds.
Looking towards the hotel zone in Puerto Vallarta.
Tour boats in the harbour.
They have lots of statues placed everywhere.
The Lady of Guadalupe Church in behind the tents of the market being set up.
Back to where we were dropped off on our previous bus trip, the Puerto Vallarta sign on the Malecon. Not so many people in the way today, no cruiseships in port.
The Open Mine Jewelry Store. Mexico is know for their fire opals in 26 colours.
Some traditional dancers.
Lots of artists crafts displayed.
Biggest bunch of dracaena plants I have seen!
It was now 12:30 and time for lunch. We chose Senor Frogs. It turned out to be quite expensive. Ray's octupus taco tortilla is chewy, so he ate just the octupus. I ordered stuffed shrimp and it's delicious. I shared half with Ray. lol Never again here with high prices, slow service and only one server spoke broken English.
I noticed these guys performing at the top of the pole across the street. Then they began swinging!
By 2 pm we were done and gave Carlos a call to pick us up. We made it back to our hotel at 3 pm. A great day.
Wednesday we enjoyed our "beach day". Ray woke early and put out our towels. After our usual morning, we made our way down to the buffet for breakfast. It's quite cool this morning, so we didn't end up going back to the beach until about 9:30 or so for the day.
Ray took these couple of pictures on his walk down the beach.
At 3:30 we had enough, so back up to our rooms for our showers. It's quite hot today and there's a lot of wind in the afternoon.
We usually go back down to the lobby bar about 5 and have a drink before heading to the Buffet for dinner around 6 pm. It's nice sitting there in the shade with the breeze. Tonight during dinner we were treated to a beautiful sunset. First day of having some clouds since we've here.
Nice tour of the Malecon. The pole swingers performance is cool...we saw something similar when we were in Playa del Carmen.
