Lone Rock Beach, Part 2, Lake Powell, Utah

Monday, October 30th

Woke up to a beautiful sunrise.

Sunrise Lone Rock Beach
About 10 am after coffee and breakfast, Steve and Dianne came over to go into town with me for a few supplies. They also needed propane. Thanks for picking up the tab for fueling up the car Steve! Have to make sure we have plenty of fuel for our next adventure!

Ray stayed home and rested. We were all back home in time for lunch. Spent most of the afternoon inside as it was a bit breezy and overcast so I worked on this blog instead. Later in the afternoon we all gathered around the campfire for happy hour with everyone watching me cooking our steak on charcoal burquettes. :) lol

Tuesday, October 31st  Happy Halloween!

This morning Ray, Dianne and I headed into town to pick up a few things. Steve was left behind to work on his pictures with his new Lightroom Program after Ray gave him instructions yesterday. Walmart shorted me a bag of groceries yesterday ... we just hate that turnstyle thing they use as this is about the third time not all of the groceries made it back home. I went there specifically to get Freya's weiners and they were in the missing bag! lol

Anyways, after taking care of Walmart, we headed out to get some replacement "nuts" for my zero gravity chair as I lost one a couple of campsites ago for my zero gravity chair. lol We also were looking to get a Benchmark Arizona Atlas for Steve and Dianne but no success.

There is a bunch of "sand art" left by other campers. I liked this turtle the best.

Once back home we all split up for lunch and then Steve offered to take Ray and I for a boat ride over to Lone Rock and the channels in behind on Lake Powell. Dianne wanted a turn to play with the pictures for their blog. What a gorgeous trip. Thanks Steve. Ray was able to go as his zero gravity chair just fit over the bench in Steve's boat. Ray of course took a multitude of pictures.

Captain Steve

Here we go.

Getting closer to Lone Rock

We motored around the whole rock which appears much larger from the side view and headed into Lone Rock Canyon. Lots of places for house boats to tuck in.

Steve took us in and out of a bunch of small channels.

Yup just made it through that!

Dead end of one channel.  There are a few small sandy "beaches"

Ray had a great time playing with the water reflections. It was so clear.

We did see some small fish but they were too fast to get a picture of. I was told by a "local" that they are baby large mouth bass probably. There are no longer any trout in Lake Powell since the Strippers were introduced. They decimated all of the trout population.

Just look how clear the water is.

Heading back out to Lone Rock and then back to the beach.

Thanks Captain Steve for the great boating adventure.

Steve took a picture of us with our Halloween Flag. Freya loves the shade of Steve's truck.

Back home at the beach we had a "short" happy hour outside. As the wind came up, we all departed back to our "homes" for an hours rest before Dianne wows us with her dinner of curried chicken and brocolli tonight. No eating outside tonight as the wind changed direction and is picking up the sand and blowing it into us and the lake.

Dinner was great and the company as usual, was fantastic. Ended up staying way longer than we said we would as we always seem to have so much to blab about, especially plans for the following days together.

  1. That water is so clear and the pics down into water showing the rock formations are so cool. Looks like a great spot for a paddle in the inflatable boat, so calm and you could get into the real narrow spots. Awesome!
