Welcome Baby Stella May 15th

Welcome Baby Stella!

In the wee hours, 12:05 am Friday morning, May 15th our miracle was born. Baby Stella Lee Kyle, all 4.5 lbs of her. She was named after my mother, such an honour.

Happy family, Garrett, Stella and Kat

Mom and baby doing fine. Everyone thrilled. Stella is really long for her size at 16.9 inches long. She must take after her Dad, Garrett.

Here I am world.

Look how long she is compared to the nurses hands.
All of Kat's ultrasound pictures showed Stella with her hands on her face ... yup she definitely was sucking her thumb. Now in the NICU she is working that pacifier like crazy, even holding on to it!

Hanging onto her pacifier.

This next picture was taken at 6 am this morning, at 6 hours old. She's quite content, hands up to her face again. lol

Apparently she wiggles around so much that her leads come off frequently. lol

We can't wait to meet this little bundle of joy. With the Covid Crisis it won't be until maybe mid-June. Meanwhile I will have to just get lots and lots of pictures sent to me. lol

Skin time with Daddy

First nursing.

Flowers we sent to Kat

Garrett's first diaper change. lol
This beautiful blanket was crocheted and then pictures done in cross-stitching by Kat's aunt. Beautiful!

We are so thankful mom and baby are doing well. Hard to believe she is only a couple of days old. Ray and I are ecstatic to finally be grandparents!

  1. Congratulations! So exciting and difficult at the same time. Soon you can safely see her, besides looks like she wasn't expected yet given her size - I'm assuming 4.5lbs is preemie, my eldest was 6.7lbs a month preemie - now he is 6'5" and close to 300 lbs.

  2. Stella was only 34.5 weeks along so almost 6 weeks early. She will be in hospital for at least another week until she gains sufficient weight. Kat is doing well and will probably be discharged tomorrow. She is hoping to be able to stay in a companion room at the hospital so won't have to drive back and forth from Squamish every day. Still to be decided. Yes we are "over the moon". Hopefully we will be able to take the ferry mid-June and visit for a few days.

  4. Congratulations! So exciting to have an addition to your family. 4.5 is so small but I am sure he will grow like a weed in the coming weeks!

    1. Six days old today and is gaining weight now so looking good. She will be in the NICU for probably another 10 days before she can go home. Can't wait to meet her but it won't be until mid-June once they are both home from the hospital. By mid-June our province should have less restrictions of moving around so we will be able to catch the ferry over to the mainland to visit.

    1. Hopefully both mom and Stella are home at the end of the month. We are tentatively planning to go over to Squamish mid-June once they reinstate the Horseshoe Bay ferry and restrictions are lifted somewhat. Can hardly wait. :)
